Turkey Burgers

I will admit that I always doubted turkey burgers because I thought they would taste gross and have no flavor but was I wrong! They are actually really good and are very lean! I still try to maintain a low carb diet and every once in a while I want a burger so bad. These burgers are very lean and I usually end up eating 1 if I am doing lunch or 2 if I am doing dinner. I don't want to eat bread because it will make me feel gross and bloated, so I have everything I want (within the low carb range) without the bun and it satisfies me completely!

With turkey burgers you will need to cook them completely but you can add any kind of seasoning to them that you want! I usually do a little bit of garlic salt and pepper with another seasoning such as burger or steak seasoning. I add bacon, sauteed mushrooms and onions, avocado, american cheese and some hot sauce and its delicious!

Pizza//Low Carb

As always, I'm trying to find ways to stick to my diet yet be able to indulge in my favorite non-healthy foods as well. Cauliflower recipes are all over, especially pinterest, from mash potatoes to pizza and some of the new recipes I've discovered; fried rice and breadsticks! How awesome is it that there are always alternatives to dieting? You are able to stay on tract and have what you want just by being creative and researching.

Cauliflower has about 3 grams of carbohydrates per 1 cup, this is why it makes a great substitution for bread-like and starchy foods. It also is a great source of vitamin C, Vitamin K, Manganese and it's full of Fiber, about 9 grams in every 100 calories. Not only does this help for cravings it also has many great health benefits too!

I start with a head of cauliflower, I cut off the bottom and chopped it into little florets. Then I put them in the food processor until it looks "riced". When this is complete you put in a bowl and put in microwave for about 8 minutes. You can also put them in the oven at 350 degrees F for about 15 minutes. After this process you want to drain all that excess water, so I use a towel, put the cauliflower in it and squeeze it until there isn't much water coming out. I'd wait a couple minutes to let it cool before because it will be hot. When you are done with that you add the dough-like cauliflower to the mixture of 1 egg, oregano, salt, pepper, garlic powder, mozzarella cheese and 2 TBSP of olive oil. Mix together with hands and when done place onto baking sheet sprayed with cooking spray (butter, olive oil, canola, vegetable). Cook for 20 minutes. Let cool and add sauce and toppings whatever you want. :)
